The Exel brand was founded in 1960 by three chemists, who were fascinated by the possibilities of new kind of composite products. The first innovative composite products were introduced in 1970 and the big breakthrough came in Innsbruck Olympics, where 70% of the medals were won using Exel lightweight poles.
Since then, Exel has been one of the leading Finnish sporting goods manufacturers. In 1993 Exel launched first floorball sticks. Soon the sport and equipment began to develop at a rapid pace.
